La Torretta

December 16, 2022 by eliemme

Torretta, or small tower in English, is a 32 sqm (344 square foot) duplex. It is the only room of Palazzo Daniele that has the privilege to have direct access to its grand courtyard, and therefore to its gardens.

On the groundfloor, a living area has a selection of exquisite art and design, including two tripoline chairs and a Vitra butterfly stool. On the walls, photos by artists Christodoulos Panayotou and Sim Way Kim, and a sculpture by LA based artist Bri Williams. Should you read Italian, you’d find also a collection of 500 volumes published in the 30s with the great classic of literature.

An old, small but extremely refined red marble staircase brings to the bedroom on the first floor, with its en suite bathroom. Here, a sculpture by Francesco Arena and a painting by Francis Offmann are the only concession to the monastic décor.

Junior Suite

Facing the lush courtyard, the Junior Suites feature masterpieces by celebrated artists, and most boast frescoed ceilings and original floors from the 19th century.

The custom made minimalistic furnishings such as black steel framed wardrobes enhance the beauty of the aristocratic history. The paired-back style strengthens the power of the contrast between history, contemporary art and function.

Royal Junior Suite

The highlight of the Royal Junior Suite is its bathroom, conceived as an art installation, where a rainshower falls from a 6-meter high ceiling on a basin designed by Italian artist Andrea Sala.

The Royal Junior Suite showcases a lightbox by Simon d’Exea that’s both an art piece as well as functional at the same time, illuminating the room. The uniqueness of this Suite is the royal bath with its 6 meters high rain shower and basin designed by the iconic Italian artist Andrea Sala, a livable art installation. Special bathroom features also include twin sinks from Ceramica Flaminia and backlit mirrors. Design, contemporary art and history coexist in order to convey a one-of-a-kind energy.
